We’re a local high school band in need of a new saxophonist (2-3 years experiecne) for a Dave Matthews cover band. We practice a few times a week and are hoping to perform a few times a month at local venues.

I’ve been looking to make a band for a while. Why not just join an existing one and take it over? That’s exactly what I thought…

I’m a classically trained saxophonist (but I’ve played jazz for 25+ years). I studied under Guy Mancoulier at the Conservatoire Municipal de Mortanais. I’ve played in various bands over the last several years but have never really felt the chemistry I’ve been looking for (band politics and leadership struggles.) This sounds like it could be a great opportunity for both of us.

Sorry I can’t move this fast. I have no idea where that address is and will have to consult my neighbor’s roadmap next time I sneak in.

More importantly, I need to check with my mom before I commit to anything. What sort of venues do you typically perform in?

hey ned. no worries u can come by whenever. when u are free?? we have performed at our high school but our drummer’s brother works at *********** so we are hoping to get a gig there soon.

I talked to Beatrice (my mom). She has a few concerns but is ok with me coming. I guess now would be a good time to let you know that I’m not fully recovered from some recurring bronchospasms related to my asthma. I need to keep my air purifier nearby so we will have to practice at my place. Don’t worry, I have seating and electricity. It’s pretty quiet too. I have some pets but they are not alive so “no worries” as you say.

We will have to talk about public performances too. That’s most likely going to be a problem.

um I don’t know if this is going to work. we are def going to perform in public. sorry ned.

Ok I can get over the asthma but I will have to use a self-contained air supply. That’s what she said, lololol. Obviously since I’m playing saxophone I can’t just use my mask. So I will construct an airtight container for me to play within (don’t worry I’ll build in a mic). We can wheel that on stage with me in it.

I was talking over names for the band with my mom and we settled on “The Ned Wingfield Experience featuring Bryan and his friends, with special guests Beatrice Wingfield and Mark Sennis”. It will look great on our eponymous first release. I was thinking though that we coulld abbreviate it just to “TNWE” for the bass drum. No offense.

Oh, the reason the other names are in the band is I promised my mom she could play the drums and Mark could sing while on bass. I figured you probably needed some help since you are just in high school so it’s time to start cutting the loose ends. During our performance though, we could use some backup singing and dancing. No offense. So I’ll talk to Mark about recruiting some of the “hotties” from his phys ed class he teaches.

Can’t wait to jam! We will come by Friday if that’s suitable with your remaining bandmates.
